STEAM AGERS
Steam agers are designed to meet high reliability (Hi-Rel) and military specifications for MIL-STD 202, Method 208 and other specifications for component testing.
The steam agers are suitable for electronic components, circuit boards, discrete components and other items where artificial ageing needs to be tested for life failure evaluation. The Hongzhan steam agers allow monitoring and control of either steam or water temperature. Automatic timers allow testing for single or with the Hongzhan ZA, three separate timers for the three separate drawers.
Suitable for testing: high density, discrete components, relays, transistors, capacitors, SMT, and axial components.
Artificial steam ageing of components must occur within a very narrow temperature range; typically at 93 C +/- 3 degrees.
Hongzhan Steam Ager
The Hongzhan System is the only one currently on the market that meets this level of precise control requirements. The accuracy makes the system ideal for component manufacturers and military, commercial, and industrial end users.
Built from treated stainless steel, the steam agers are virtually unaffected by de-ionized or distilled water. The elapsed time and cycle time are indicated digitally on the display. The cycle timer will not time the cycle unless temperature is within process parameters. The unit automatically shuts down at the end of the pre-programmed cycle. The cover is designed so that steam is condensed and channelled to the side safely and so that any condensation is kept away from components.
There are two versions of the Hongzhan steam ager:
Hongzhan - The standard model offers a single large steam chamber for large components.
Hongzhan ZA - The Hongzhan ZA model comes with three separate drawers that are individually timed. The three drawers offer ESD protection and feature a special closing mechanism that reduces steam escapement during drawer removal.
For a complete solderability testing process, an Hongzhan can be used in conjunction with the Prelude Solderability Test System. The Prelude conducts an automated flux and solder dip process to enable the necessary “Dip & Look Test” to validate the solderability of the aged components.

“Artificial Ageing” Test
The Hongzhan provides additional testing functionality by artificially ageing components prior to the “dip & look test” for solderability testing. The artificial ageing is produced by 8-hours of exposure to precision controlled temperature and steam. The ANSI-J Standard requires steam ageing as part of the solderability test process. This industry specified process replicates the impact of 12+ months of storage. After the ageing process, the components are brought to the solderability tester and, if successful, certification for long-term storage can be given.
Industry Standards Compliance:
Systems meet all current industry standards for solderability testing and steam ageing and are CE and RoHS compliant.
Standards compliance in solderability testing includes:
JEDEC JESD22-B102D Mil-STD-202 Method 208
ANSI-J-STD-002 ANSI-J-STD-003
IPC/EIA J-STD 002B/C
There are options to run the steam ager from a direct from a D.I. water supply or to fill the machine using a carboy. Hongzhan Technology Co Ltd supply the Steam Agers with a 110v to 230v, 50Hz Transformer unless otherwise specified. If you need to know more, please contact us on +86 769 83730866 or email us.
